Fireworks causing a noise in the Rodney District
Horse owners in Rodney are up in arms against fireworks and pyrotechnic displays, which they say spook their horses, in some cases leading to their deaths, and momentum is building for a change at a local government level.
Since filming, there have been reports of Jason Peters setting off more fireworks without consulting, nor notifying neighbours, and we have unconfirmed reports that another horse injured itself during the display.
A warning, this story contains graphic images and viewer discretion is advised. John Watson reports.

Agribusiness students are in hot demand from industry. Of the 22, 820 undergraduate degrees awarded to students in 2011, only 68 were for Agricultural sciences and 90 were for farm and agribusinesses management. Yet, Dairy NZ estimates an annual need of 1250 agriculture-related graduates to keep the industry healthy and growing. John Watson talked to two students with bright futures, Stephanie ...

National get funding from road haulage and aren't too fussed on rail.
The UK is currently seeing growth on the railways, although the COVID-19 pandemic was a big setback, but I hope New Zealand can see the same levels of growth we have here. I visited New Zealand in February 2023 and was shocked at the lack of Inter-city rail services. With the climate emergency, New Zealand relly needs to invest in more sustainable transport, moving people and goods by rail instead of road and air.
Such a shame that this railway line was mothballed
Gisborne not Gisbin

So sad to see all those sitting behind Gary having a snigger about the lack of change from twenty dollars. It’s no laughing matter when in the worlds top dairy producer the everyday people have to pay a hours worth of hard earned wages (if your lucky to be on twenty bucks an hour)to buy a block of cheese and a pound of butter.Just shows you how far top management and the corporate world are removed from everyday reality.

Fun fact: David Bargh is no longer the principal at Dargaville High School today after he was arrested for lurking at another teacher's home late at night.
pig shet
They seriously need this line reopen for Kiwirail trains as transporting freight by rail to and from Gisborne is way more economical than transporting it by road. The roads is a tough challenge and if this problem continues then the challenges will get a whole lot more harder and tougher. About $5 million (may have been extended over the years) has been put on the table to get this line fixed. I've read that this line is most likely gonna reopen for trains to transport logs, fruit, vegetables and meat from Gisborne down to Napier. Also if it does reopen, Gisborne city vintage railway may run their trains out to Beach loop and back. But that would be for weekends only. If they do succeed in getting this line reopen for Kiwirail trains then it would make it a whole lot more easier for the East Cape logging industry and the residential farmers that grow the fruits and vegetables in transporting their products/logs down to the Port of Napier. So yeah hopefully in the future this line is back in use.
in 10 years wea gona laugh at this
Shame it went totally bellyup yet again

What is this Fonterra propaganda, why is there a Milk for school program for a country which is one of the worlds biggest dairy producers on the planet? Maybe if parents could afford your over price milk products you would have to get a puppet like Richie to hand out milk to needy kids so they can have a small bit of calcium in their life.
FTP you add to carbon levels by doing this shit. Think of the children. Climate change is real and you pigs are not helping. It's my job you say as did the Nazis.
great advice
FTP legalize weed thoze chopperz gonna get shot down ittl happen 1 day and I'm gonna larrrf

If you fall off a quad bike 20 times then it might be time to get some new glasses 🤓
Could a conglomerate of Gisborne businesses, especially those that use(d) the rail regularly, put in a bid to buy the whole line, repair it, and use it. Just watching the video, I see beautiful scenery; why not add a tourist train as well, especially in the summer months. Once or twice a week?, twice a month? Too many lines in New Zealand closed and often left to rust. Compare your line with the Kawakawa-Opua line.
Labour have announced they'll re-open the Napier to Awaroa section of the line. This is a start, after 9 years of inaction by National whose only interest is in building more roads. It's going to take a huge chunk of money to repair the damage between Awaroa and Gisborne, but once the above-mentioned section is re-opened this may well help the reinstatement of the damaged section.
Great video showing real stuff happening around us every day in every aspect regardless of enviroment
Captain James Shortall is the man!!!

Stupid ass people
Nice ute ,not to sure about the paint job lol
nice place to work
Hmmmm my recent water poisoning in my next town Havelock proves that what the councillor says is completely refutable... MCI levels at 60 in the nearby rivers...the lowest and the most polluted a river could get and as a result of intensified farming..these are facts not environmentalist embellishment, you should be ashamed. Another rape of the natural world for the benefit of greedy Dairy investors, more intense farming and irrigation. Sick.
I have been to Hobbiton it is an awesome place
